Letter to Sheringham Town Council - 16 September 2009

To Sheringham Town Council Members
Town Hall
St Peter's Road
Sheringham
16th September 2009

I received a letter from Sheringham Town Council Wednesday 16th informing me that there will be a meeting on the 15th to discuss the Tesco application for a supermarket..... and the letter was dated the 14th. Was the meeting open to the public, as there no mention of this in the letter.

Was this a stalling tool to deny people their participation in local government by sending out the letters late.
I read in the papers on Wednesday that you are unable to reach a decision. BRILLIANT. How many years have you had to think about this- Far too many you have dithered and muddled until now you have Sainsbury's Express installing itself in Woolworth's old site. This poses more threats to the neighbouring wine, bread and fruit shops (even Budgens itself) than ever Tesco offered.

The "Green store "out by the graveyard, where it belongs is hardly going to attract people into the town and anybody with any common sense knows that it is a short term gimmick which cannot financially succeed in the face of serious competition from even the Sainsbury's express shop.

Tesco offer a replacement community centre to replace the existing one that has already been declared unfit for purpose and a new fire station to replace the dated relic that is a blot on the landscape on Cromer Road. In this time of recession you should be doing everything you can to reduce the tax burden on ratepayers by encouraging investment into the town by companies like Tesco. You surely cannot believe that you will get funding for either of these projects from NNDC, NCC or any other agency. So what will happen when the money runs short and repairs are not done...WE THE PEOPLE LOSE OUR FACILITIES OR OUR RATES GO UP YET AGAIN !!!!!

THE ANSWER IS STARING YOU IN THE FACE, TESCO WILL GIVE YOU THE FACILITIES AND THEIR ONLY DIRECT COMPETITOR IS MORRISONS AT CROMER NOT THE SHOPS IN SHERINGHAM.
Yours very annoyed
