Response from Corporate Affairs Manager
The following letter was received from the Corporate Affairs Manager
Tesco's Stores Ltd on 21 December 2005 - in response to our letter of 16 November.
From: Corporate Affairs Manager 21 Dec 05
Many thanks for your letter of 16th November about the formation of PROTESC. Needless to
say we are delighted to her that you have provided a clear focus and direction for
supporters in and around Sheringham.
As yet, the District Council has still not confirmed to us their intention to refuse our
planning application, a decision which was taken nearly 3 months ago! I can assure you
however that Tesco is totally committed to coming to Sheringham and that a decision on
what we do will be taken shortly. We will, of course, keep you posted.
You raised in your letter the question of Tesco being involved in the community in the
future by way of a forum with local residents and shopkeepers. I am please to say that the
Company takes its community responsibilities very seriously, with the Store Manager and
his/her senior colleagues being involved in local groups and activities. We would
certainly encourage such involvement in the sort of local group you envisage once the
future of the store is clear.
In the meantime, if there is anything we can do to assist your Group, we would be happy to
do so. I am copying this letter to my colleague, Nick Dean, who is our public liaison
contact point for the Sheringham scheme.
Yours sincerely,
Katherine Edwards
Corporate Affairs Manager
