The following letter was sent to Councillor's Nelson, Hanner, Fenn, Pointer, Partridge and Norman Lamb MP on 21 November 2005 - we will post the response when we receive them.

Re: Tesco Store

As you may be aware some of the people of Sheringham have formed a group to support Tesco store coming to Sheringham. As a group we feel that it is time for us to have our views known. The lobby against Tesco has had their hearing and now it is our turn to ask the people of Sheringham if they are in favour of a Tesco store.

Before we do this we would like a few questions answered ourselves as we wish to communicate to the public accurate information. With this in mind these are the questions we would like answering:

* We understand that the council has asked for Counsel's Opinion part of their refusal of the Tesco application. What has happened to this as it is over two months since this was done. Why is it taking so long? Can you confirm that the ratepayers will not be asked to cover the cost of any appeal
* Stalham was held up as the town that suffered the most because Tesco opened a store in their town and that the people of were losing all their shops. Can you tell us why would a new large store open if the town was in such a poor condition and did you as councillors know this was about to happen when you voted?
* Did you vote against Tesco or abstain please can you tell us what was your reasoning?
* How long the car park in the town would be closed in order to build a store on it and can you assure the people of Sheringham that there will still be room for a market and for the buses that bring in our day trippers.
* If Tesco's do not come to Sheringham can you confirm that the ratepayers will not be asked to cover the cost of replacing or repairing the fire station and the community centre?

We look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours sincerely
Pam Blyth (on behalf on Protesc)
