The following letter was received by Protesc,
it makes interesting reading.
Dear Pam
This is to let you know we are in the process of preparing a complaint about the
councillors on the JDCC to send to Simon Partridge, the leader of the council.
We have information from Karen Sly in the finance department, that there is an emergency
council meeting next Wednesday, presented to full council at which councillors will be
asked to claw back £200,000 from the capital programme for NNDC's own appeal costs,
and a further £200,000 for Tesco's costs, which, the notice says, will have an immediate
effect on on the current budget as well as implications for future years' budgets. The
capital programme will need to be reprogrammed as this money is already funding capital
schemes. This will also be reported to the audit committee as this increases the financial
risk exposure of the council significantly. I can send you the full report tomorrow if you
don't already have it.
Our complaint will be on the basis of possible maladministration, failure to act
democratically and to represent all the people of Sheringham fairly; also on the grounds
for rejection after saying they would pass it in April 2006; money wasting and time
wasting as it now looks as though this is delaying tactics while the LDF is brought in;
and what happens in Sheringham is decided by SCAMROD and the Chamber of Trade. We hope you
have seen their notices in the shops - unbelievable! "Our local elected district
councillors did us proud." And "Tesco will appeal, but with your continued
support we will cross that bridge when we come to it." This last is in very small
print. I have photographs of all the shops displaying this notice.
We think there is a need now for the rest of North Norfolk taxpayers to know what's going
on. I intend to contact Richard Batson (EDP reporter) tomorrow with information about the
emergency council meeting.
Hope you've also seen our letters in the EDP and the North Norfolk News.
We'll keep you informed.
Paul and Wendy Norman
